Famous Dave's has been America's favorite place for BBQ and since opening in the UAE, it has become a favourite place for many BBQ lovers in this country too. Last weekend I was lucky enough to visit the latest outlet of Famous Dave's in the newest malls of Dubai  The festival plaza in Jebel Ali. I visited with a fellow blogger who is a connoisseur in meat and grills.  We were greeted by staff who were not only friendly but also very well trained and courteous. Bun Mania at That Place Karama. You're in for a Buntastic Surprise

Image
Who would have ever imagined buns could be so Buntastically crafted and appetizingly presented? Aprita Khatri did. And that's the back story of That Place, Karama. Yes, her cafe is actually named  THAT PLACE. Armed with a grand diploma in Culinary Arts from the Le Cordon Blue Culinary School, London, and buntastic ideas in her head, she set up That Place, two years ago. In this short span of time, her cafe has carved a unique name for itself and had found its way in top recommended cafe list of many bloggers and also voted in the ten hidden gem of Dubai in Whatson Magazine. Why has she got so much coverage and attention? To know the answer,  I decided to go and try out the food, myself and see what it is all about. Two days ago, I actually had a chance to catch up with Arpita Khatri and learn about her vision, passion and future plans for That Place. I was served with Cold Coffee. Mild, less sweet and perfect chiller for

Grand Abshar Restaurant : Serving fabulous grills and more

Image
Grand Abshar restaurant is a persian restaurant situated in Umm Suqeim, in Jumeirah. The restaurant is nearly two year old and it serves some fabulous and authentic iranian fare in a very simple and casual setting. I had an opportunity to visit Abshar with food blogger suren rajamohan this week. We really enjoyed the fare, ambiance and service. We started off with some fresh fruit juice. In starters we tried their Kashk Bedemjan which had grilled eggplant dried mint, yoghurt, fried onions and walnuts. It was a nice starter.  In salads we ordered the Abshar special salad which was a mixed platter good enough for three to share. The veggies were fresh and good. Then we ordered the main course. We ordered a mixed grill which was served along with three different types of flavored saffron rice.  The mixed grill was the highlight of our dining at Abshar. Remarkable quality and taste and really good for the price of 155 which was good for two to share. We finished it off with s

Poke & Co, DIFC

Image
Today I had the opportunity to visit Poke & Co again to try out their irresistible, fresh and healthy Poke Bowls. I have always remained a great fan of this brand due to the quality of the POKE compared to its competitors and also the great service that they are always known for. I visited this time with a very popular healthy food blogger and advocate of healthy dining as I knew she would really appreciate this brand well and she did. We started off with some delicious smoothies. I chose Mocha Mania while my dining partner chose energy kick. Both were very refreshing and good. In Poke I chose my all time favourite while my dining partner chose Chicken Gone Wild. My aloha bowl was a veritable melange of Salmon, light ponzu sauce, red onion, edamame, cherry tomatoes, seaweed salad, mango, avocado, sesame seeds, chilli flakes and ginger. In short - bowl of healthy goodness.  I had their signature rice as a base. Some calories dont hurt as you are balancing it with so much

Mani's Biryani

Image
Today had a chance to try Mani's Biryani. It came all the way from international city. Package arrived on the promised time and it comprised of beef and mutton biryani and gajar ka kheer in desserts. First off, the biryani was total value for money. The portions were good enough for me and my friend to share. Now in terms of taste and quality - the mutton biryani was the winner for me. It had quite a good portion of rice and enough meat for me and my friend. The mutton was nicely cooked and flavours were intact. Rice too was flavourful and how you would expect from a Pakistani biryani. The beef biryani was pretty good too, though i didn't appreciate the salt and i had shared the feedback with the team over phone and they were happy to receive and promised to correct. The gajar ka kheer is one of the best i ve tried. That too arrived on a matka or earthen vessel. The pricing factor was pretty reasonable and definitely would order again from here.

The Meating Room

Image
Meating Room is one place I had been meaning to visit for a very long time and incidentally we were invited for a bloggers meet. I was definitely excited because it would be my first proper bloggers meet after covid made us all go on quarantine. Seven of us met up last friday to check out the new menu at the Meating room.  Couple of us had already been there, but for me it was the first ever time to visit this famous award winning restaurant. We had a very special bloggers menu for us. We started off with some coolers to chill down. I tried Mango Fizz and Kala Ghatta. Both were nice with a little twist of the Meating Room. In starters we tried Creamy grilled broccoli. Po Tay To Po Tha To - a meat stuffed potato pattie. It was so soft and luscious. Then we had Chicken and Cheese Croquet which were also super soft and super tasty. In BBQ which Meating room is famous for, we tried Psychedelic lamb chops - even the name was different from the usual and so was the taste - soft
