A Culinary Fiesta of Fantastic Asian Fare at Streetery - The food hall by ZEN

Image
Asian street fare is definitely on a league of its own. Nothing excites me as much as indulging in Asian fare especially the spicy seafood, sushi, satay and noodles. So, last week when I got a chance to be part of a bloggers lunchathon at Streetery JLT, I was more than elated. We were a bunch of 5 foodies with a great love for Asian fare so we had a culinary fiesta of sorts with the awesome line up of incredibly good fare from three different concepts – Chinese, Korean and Thai.   First off what I have to remark on is the popularity of the joint. We went there on a working day close to lunch time and the place was full house. There were people from all walks of life. Right form Chinese tourists to corporate suits working in nearby offices. We were met by the super friendly owner who has been running the reputed ZEN for 14 years now.   Recently he decided to expand the concept and bring in two more restaurants under his umbrella, to offer diners a wholesome Asian streetsi

Cali Poke : Born in California, Made in Hawaii, tastefully served in Dubai

Image
After opening four successful USA restaurants, Cali-Poke set its sights overseas and launched in Dubai. Cali-Poke’s Executive Chefs brought over California’s affinity for western food and created the poke taco. Cali Poke bowl concept was designed to be a seamless merger of culinary traditions; by gracefully incorporating dressings which are a fusion of Peruvian/Japanese recipes, with cuts of fresh fish. I finally had the opportunity to try out some of their signature bowls last when, when my friend invited to join me for lunch at their flagship Business Bay outlet. We were treated to some refreshing and healthy bowls of poke and a host of lip smacking starters. We started off first with their signature tacos which was a palette rewarding wrap of crunchy prawns seated and a totally flavour-packed bed of rice neatly packed in nori shell.  The appetizer hit all the right spots in terms of flavor and taste.  We then got to try their miso soup which was hot and flavor packe

Inspired Culinary treats from the city of dreams : Bombay Dreams

Image
Bombay is a land of a million hopes and dreams. It is also known as India’s top culinary destination where flavors of all over the sub-continent and beyond are known to collide.   Bombay dreams restaurant is but a microcosm of this interesting mélange of cultures, tastes and aromas that is here to take Dubai by storm by offering good quality food and very aggressive prices.  When we first heard about this restaurant, we did the mistake of assuming that it is “ just another “ Bombay themed restaurant like the many we’ve seen emerging in Dubai over the past couple of years.     But in just few months of its launch it has managed to get a 4.1 on Zomato and nice recommendations from seasoned food connoisseurs in Dubai. We decided to check it out ourselves and find out what the buzz is all about.   Situated bang opposite to Puranmal and Gangour in Oud Medha, Bombay Dreams is a casual restaurant with a nice vibe to it.   The first thing you will notice is the hand painted

Tanatan - Old world charm. Inventive food.

Image
Tanatan at Reagent palace hotel, Bur Dubai situated opposite to Burjuman offers a feast of Indian delicacies embodying the diversity and flamboyance of the country. Spicy aromas and mouth-watering flavors govern the culinary spead and it reflect the traditions and festivity of Indian cuisine. Ambiance The place looks classic with a relaxed vibe, mood lit interiors, traditional paintings of the maharajas, large and small sized bells in different corners and a centre stage where the live performance takes place on most days. The Food For the starts we had Aamchi Tanatan, a spicy prawn preparation and Murgh Bharwaan Lahori. Both pleased the tastebuds.  The third appetizer in line however didn’t hit the right mark. It looked interesting but somehow disappointed in taste. The dish I am referring to is Bambil sandwich – which is no regular sandwich but a layer of prawns paste stuffed in the middle of fish, coated outside with ravioli and fried. Thanks to the use of
