Afters - Great ice cream cafe for after food indulgence by the creek

So today, I was invited by my good friend and blogger Suren Rajamohan to visit Afters in Al Seef.  From the very name, you can guess why this place has been named AFTERS. Yes, you guessed right! It is a dessert place or a post-meal-indulgence spot to enjoy desserts with gorgeous views of the buzzing Dubai creek and historic Al Seef neighbourhood.

Afters is situated just a block away from the Public parking towards the British Embassy side of Al Seef. So locating it is quite easy. The café is small with only a couple of tables indoor but they make up for it with half a dozen tables outdoors overlooking the beautiful Creekside and also the historic seef area.


The café is neat, the branding very interesting and seating quite comfortable for an ice cream place. The team are a proactive bunch and every ready to serve your needs.

We started off with some light bites like waffle sandwiches. On that note, I must mention, though solely an after food place, they have been considerate to add in a few sandwiches on their menu to cater to those hungry diners who may be looking for food besides desserts.




We ordered Waffle Sandwich and Cheese Toastie. Both were presented well and were quite filling. I would have loved if the waffle sandwich had more meat inside. But in our sandwich it was very minimal. There was more cheese in it instead of ham. Nevetheless it tasted very nice and I really relished this. 


The cheese toastie was loaded with cheese and it was again quite filling. Both these sandwiches would serve as a perfect treat to anyone looking for something substantial to eat, other than desserts. Add some ice creams or a nice milkshake to the mix and you have a perfect breakfast or lunch or dinner! 

In desserts – the main event – we ordered exotic explosion, king ferrero and oreo biscuit shake.




Exotic Explosion – it was one hell of a mega drink, less on sugar or chocolate but more on fruit ice cream. It was customized to have more of passion fruit as that is my all time favourite fruit. It is priced at 50 dhs which is slightly higher for a dessert, but then the quantity really justified the price. I wont say it was standout, but it was quite interesting. It had 3 scoops of ice cream bedded on pineapple and topped with whipped cream. You can also customize this with marshmallows, mixed nuts or any regular toppings at an additional cost.




I tried a few sips of the Ferrero ice cream from my friend. It was an amazing blend of Ferrero Rocher, hazel nuts and chocolate ice cream served with chocolate and caramel sauce, Ferrero Rocher pieces, chopped nuts, whipped cream and florentine wafers. It was intensely sweet and definitely not to my liking. May be perfect for teens, children or those grown up kids that love Ferrero Rocher.
Oreo Shake was just perfect. The oreo biscuits were perfectly blended into a shake of ice cream. 
It is priced at 26.50. Totally worth it.

Apart from ice creams, Afters also serves a selection of sandwiches, juices and milkshakes, crepes, smoothies, cakes and coffee.

Verdict

Afters is definitely an interesting café to check out. Whether you are looking for some post dinner indulgence or just want a place to chill out after your walking spree in the seef neighbourhood, this place is perfect. Even if you are looking for some light bites, juices or plain coffee Afters is a nice bet too, 

Afters is a lovely café with nice ambiance, great outdoor area, quick service and great team to back it.
Highly recommended.

Zou Zou at La Mer, Dubai

After my recent visit to Gunaydin – which in my opinion is the best Turkish restaurant in Dubai, my expectations from any Turkish restaurants have risen to all time high. When I got invited from Zou Zou – the Turkish Lebanese restaurant at La Mer, I was all in for it, to try and compare.
