Dubai based Pristine Private School organizes a TEDx Event

Building upon the success of the previous year, Dubai based Pristine Private Schooltoday successfully organized yet another TEDx event centered around the theme of “Metamorphosis: Discover, Nurture, Transform”.
In accordance with the theme the six speakers, which included 4 of the institutions own students, and two renowned speakers – Mr. Tariq Qureishy, CEO & Founder of MAD talks and Mogens Jensen – a motivational speaker,  carefully devised their talks to touch upon various subjects that would inspire and motivate the youth of today.
The key highlight of the event was the talk by Mogens Jensen, an asthmatic who cycled and ran 11,500 km through 13 countries as well as climbed Mt. Everest without the support of canned oxygen.  The hall reverberated with the sounds of applause as he got on to stage to present his talk.  Through a combination of visuals – snippets from his own conquest of climbing the Mt.Everest and powerful quotes, Morgen managed to capture the attention of the audience.
The students from the institution who spoke at the event include Taha Qureshi, Mobina Tazerjani, Eyad Abdelazim, Zachariah Leon.
According to Shagufa Kidwai, Principal of Pristine Private School “It was quite a remarkable feat to host a TEDx event once, let alone twice.”
Pristine Private School Dubai’s philosophy is based on personalized attention through developmentally appropriate and challenging learning activities in order to encourage positive self-esteem and emotional well being of each child. It offers children an opportunity to learn and develop in a secure, creative and stimulating environment. Focusing on “HANDS ON” teaching methodology in the Foundation stage, students gain the necessary skills and knowledge by initiating and actively participating in the learning process.
The principal sponsor of this year’s TEDx event was Curtin University, Dubai. Recently launched in the UAE, the University is one of the first Middle East campuses of the Perth-based university and offers its world-renowned undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs.  It is located in Dubai International Academic City.
The CEO of Curtin University Mr. Daniel Adkins who was present at the event concluded with a very thought-provoking speech.
Another gracious sponsor was Omnispire Education, which is the leading institute in educational consultancy services.
What is TED and TEDx?
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Today, TED hosts annual conferences that bring together the world’s leading thinkers and doers to share ideas that matter in any discipline—technology, entertainment, design, science, humanities, business, development.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

Zou Zou at La Mer, Dubai

After my recent visit to Gunaydin – which in my opinion is the best Turkish restaurant in Dubai, my expectations from any Turkish restaurants have risen to all time high. When I got invited from Zou Zou – the Turkish Lebanese restaurant at La Mer, I was all in for it, to try and compare. I visited Zou Zou last week with a very dear friend who is also a big foodie like me and a lover of all things Turkish. So needless to say, we went there with lots of expectations and a hungry tummy of course. I must mention that Zou Zou didn’t disappoint. First off I have to remark about the service. It was pleasant, warm and quick.
