Cali Poke : Born in California, Made in Hawaii, tastefully served in Dubai
After opening four successful USA restaurants, Cali-Poke set its sights overseas and launched in Dubai. Cali-Poke’s Executive Chefs brought over California’s affinity for western food and created the poke taco. Cali Poke bowl concept was designed to be a seamless merger of culinary traditions; by gracefully incorporating dressings which are a fusion of Peruvian/Japanese recipes, with cuts of fresh fish.
I finally had the opportunity to try out some of their signature bowls last when, when my friend invited to join me for lunch at their flagship Business Bay outlet.
We were treated to some refreshing and healthy bowls of poke and a host of lip smacking starters. We started off first with their signature tacos which was a palette rewarding wrap of crunchy prawns seated and a totally flavour-packed bed of rice neatly packed in nori shell. The appetizer hit all the right spots in terms of flavor and taste.
We then got to try their miso soup which was hot and flavor packed. Perfect for winter. Finally in the mains we tried their Sushi lovers bowl a delightful and fresh melange of Salmon, tuna & ebi shrimp tossed in house mild dressing and garnished with avocado, red onions, cucumber, coriander & jalapeno. This mix was topped with crab, masago, green onions, ginger, wasabi, crunchy garlic & chili oil. The bowl was served on a rice base with ginger dressing
This was definitely a bowl of goodness and gave us a guilt free dining pleasure.
The ambiance was very casual and simple without any unnecessary design elements or props. The milieu served as a perfect canvas to enjoy the delicious dishes - which were the star attraction.
Definitely loved my experience here and will surely be returning when craving for healthy strikes again.
