Indian dishes with an Innovative twist at Farzi Cafe
Focusing on the gourmet diner as well as the youth of india,
farzi café aims to bring indian cuisine back “in-vogue”. “farzi” can have many
connotations, but at farzi café, it has just one, “creating an illusion” with
its cuisine. best described as a gourmet experience, it amalgamates traditional
global and indian classics, with indian influences, contemporary presentations,
culinary styles and ambiance. it is a quirky, chic, modern indian café, where
guests enjoy a sensory experience through the finest modern indian cuisine,
with a high energy ambiance. infusing a generous dose of indian flavours, farzi
café presents indian cuisine where culinary art meets the alchemy of modern
presentations and cooking techniques like molecular gastronomy to absorb the guest
into the ultimate gastronomic illusion.
Flowing smoke, pebble like smooth spheres, table theatrics
and culinary illusion are a few aspects which describe the farzi café
experience. elements of molecular gastronomy, modern techniques, customized
equipment and table theatrics transform flavours for a unique, high energy,
modernist and genre defining indian dining experience. farzi café explores
molecular gastronomy at its peak, retaining the essence of the cuisine and each
dish served, creating an unparalleled culinary experience.
I visited recently with blogger Suren Rajamohan and we were
indeed in for an exciting evening of fun, innovative food, peppy drinks and a
lot more than we fathomed.
In Drinks we were served with Berry blues – presented “presentably”
and immaculately with a wooden treasure box of berries- strawberry, raspberry,
black berry – the works!
We also enjoyed Carrot garden bliss which was literally
garden fresh. Aam Panna, Hara Apple flavours were in the form of banta soda
which is quite famous in India and is gulped after popping down the marble “goli”
on top. It was exciting and the taste was top. We also enjoyed smoky vimto which
came with its share of molecular nitrogen histrionics. Half meter cola was similar to the thumbs up
soda served in many of the bars and shisha spots – a mix of Coco cola and chat
masala or their secret chat mix.
Salads
In salads we had fresh and rich Burrata salad which had
slight flavour of turmeric and was amber in color as compared to the usual
burrata served in other restaurants. Then again this concept is innovative and can’t
really draw parallels with regular dishes served elsewhere.
In Starters we had Bombay Bhel which was presented
creatively on a big plate. The flavours were spot on. Bombay bhel impressed us
too its it’s tongue tickling twist.
Tempura fried prawns came with a rich creamy concoction which was an
absolute pleasure to devour. Galouti Kebab plate and traditional chicken tikka
followed. The chicken tikka was served on skewers with onion which went like
wine and cheese.
Mains
In the mains we had the chef come over with his trolley and
prepare Seared Wagyu curry right in front of our eyes. He got that made in over
a minute flat and it was fun to watch – and record it being prepared. Chicken tikka masala was rich, creamy and delicious.
Desserts
Desserts
In desserts we had live tawa mithai which was prepared live
in front of us by our table. We enjoyed
recording the moments on tape and later enjoyed eating it, too! We also had
Kunafa nest which had a creamy sauce and round sweet balls. Over all the
deserts weren’t overpoweringly sweet or overdone. The sweetness was just perfect
and palatable and we were able to enjoy it without feeling any guilt or sugar rush.
The restaurant is manned by two restaurant managers on the
floor and a great team that take great attention to details and are always
there with a smile to answer any queries or take any orders or requests. We
were served by Bratu from India who is a smart, handsome and friendly waiter.
Overall a fabulous place to enjoy very innovative dishes and
modern interpretations of traditional Indian food with a signature kalra touch.
Service is very fast and good and the ambiance is quite relaxed. Prices are
very reasonable too for the experience.
Farzi has recently opened an outlet in Mall of Emirates and
that is where we went to experience this.
Must visit!
