Savour an Arabic Iftar at Layali Al Murooj Tent set amidst the lush garden of Roda Al Murooj, surrounded by palm trees and a water
lagoon. This cozy Ramadan tent is the
perfect location to unwind this season, with great food, never-tried-before shisha flavours, beverages and live music played by a traditional oud player.
The Layali Tent - Ambiance
The tent is decorated with all the trimmings of Ramadan,
lovely lanterns, gorgeous ramadan props, traditional water urns, pretty carpets - the works! Every single
direction I pointed the camera to, resulted in very pleasing images.
Over all the ambiance looks so festive, cozy and
relaxing. It is probably one of the
prettiest Ramadan tents I've been to, this year.
Food
Unlike the usual iftar buffets where there is a lot of binge
eating and food wastage, the Layali tent offered a A La Carte menu complete
with all the special Ramadan treats along with regular regional specialties. Guests can order as per their need, leaving wastage to the bare minimum. I really
like this concept and I wish more restaurants followed suit.
We started off with some cold mezze which came with a
selection of assorted mezzeh combo including Hummus, Moutable. Tabule, Fattoush, Vine
leaves and Arabic bread. We also ordered
fresh juice which was really very refreshing.
The flavors of the mezzeh were spot on and it tasted delicious. It was indeed a great way to kickstart the dining before progressing to the main. While we were at it, we also ordered some Felafel. I must
admit that it is one of the best Felafils i've tried in the whole of Dubai. It
was just so soft, luscious and yummy. The only complaint was that the Tahina
sauce offered as side dip was a bit too sour for our liking. We did share our
feedback with the team which was carried over to the chef. We were told that the regular customers -
mostly Emiratis preferred their sauce that way. Not a big issue as we managed
to dip the Felafil to Hummus and we were able to enjoy it much better.
In the main course, I had Baby chicken and my veggie dining
partner decided to go for a Egg Manakish that was customized specially for
him. I tried a few bites of the Manakish
and I enjoyed it like never before. Another good job from the Tabule kitchens -
which Layali tent is part of.
For my main course, i had requested Deepak - our friendly
waiter for giving me rice on side instead of french fries. Though rice is not
part of the offering - the team was very kind enough to offer me a bowl of
vermicelli rice along with french fries. Big pat on the back to the culinary
and service team for being accommodative. That aside - the chicken was very
well cooked and flavors again were very spot on. It was very neatly presented
with all its trimmings and it was an absolute pleasure to savour.
Since we were already very full we decided to move on to
Shisha and skip the desserts. On that
note, the Shisha's were really great. Nice flavours and very helpful shisha
boy.
Overall the service too was really very prompt, noteworthy with great attention being paid to details.
Full credits to Deepak who serviced our table and the guest relations manager
from Roda who dropped by at our table to find out if we were enjoying our
dining experience there. Also thank the filipina waitress for keeping us good
company with her witty remarks and friendly nepali waitress Celina.
My friend and me - both equally enjoyed our dining
experience at Roda Al Murooj's Layali tent and I would highly recommend it for
those people who want to experience a quiet iftar with intimate family or
friends in a gorgeous surrounding with great food, awe inspiring customer
service and not to forget some flavor packed and innovative shisha flavors like
Pina Colada, Hawaiian punch, Cafe Ole etc.
This place is highly recommended! Giving a full five on zomato for food, taste, service, value and ambiance.
