Bun Mania at That Place Karama. You're in for a Buntastic Surprise

Who would have ever imagined buns could be so Buntastically crafted and appetizingly presented? Aprita Khatri did. And that's the back story of That Place, Karama. Yes, her cafe is actually named  THAT PLACE.

Armed with a grand diploma in Culinary Arts from the Le Cordon Blue Culinary School, London, and buntastic ideas in her head, she set up That Place, two years ago. In this short span of time, her cafe has carved a unique name for itself and had found its way in top recommended cafe list of many bloggers and also voted in the ten hidden gem of Dubai in Whatson Magazine. Why has she got so much coverage and attention? To know the answer,  I decided to go and try out the food, myself and see what it is all about.

Two days ago, I actually had a chance to catch up with Arpita Khatri and learn about her vision, passion and future plans for That Place.

I was served with Cold Coffee. Mild, less sweet and perfect chiller for the summer heat. I requested that the coffee flavor be made more strong and the team gladly obliged and customized my coffee for me. That's what I like about places, not just That Place - where they are willing to let you have things your way - without any fuss.

Second, I couldn't be at That Place and not taste what they are so famously known for - the buns and toasts.  Oh and how buntastic - they have a gazillion varieties on the menu you can choose from.

I tried their mushoom on toast. In one word - bliss. The bread was super soft and since its homemade with their own secret recipe - the softness is such that it melts in your mouth.  The parmesan shreddings on top added that extra kick and the mushrooms were cooked so well, too. It overall tasted so good.

Finally, for the mains, I had a bowl of Crispy chucked cheese overload maggi. When they say cheese overload - trust me - they really mean it. Check my instagram post for the video on me trying to pull out some strings of noodle from that bowl of tantalizing maggi.  At just twenty dirhams a bowl, this is total value for money and so filling, thanks to the cheese overload.  All their maggi dishes have a distinct twist to it.

Finally in dessert, I had the much famous Dulce de Leches brownie with lotus stuffing. Every bite of it was blissful. Probably one of the best brownies i've tried till date in Dubai. Ill give it a 5/5 hands down.

I really applaud founder and chef Arpita Khatri . She has amply demonstrated her penchant and skill in turning boring everyday items like bun and maggi into tantalizing dishes - that tease the taste buds but not the wallets. On that same note, as Whatson rightly pointed out - That Place is one of those few places "where you can eat like a king and still have change leftover from Dhs 100." And isn't it not a nice thing?

At a time when customer is seeking value out of every penny they spend, whether it is on food or otherwise, places like That Place are here to offer that unique benefit of great food at a totally reasonable and affordable price range.

You should perhaps visit That Place, yourself, and see that i am talking about.
