Towards healthy dining and healthy living - Baker & Spice

Baker & Spice is an award-winning food shop and restaurant with multiple locations in the U.A.E., Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. The brand first opened in Dubai in 2008, and swiftly became an inspiration for sustainable, locally sourced cooking, all over the region.

Baker & Spice ethos has always been focused on artisan food. Guided by the seasons and ethical principles, their food philosophy is simple: local | organic |  fresh | homemade. It's all they do and they do it exceptionally well, in that order. Everything they serve is made from scratch in their kitchens. Their central bakery offers both retail and wholesale services across the region.

Blogliterati.com recently had a chance to visit the Baker & Spice outlet at the newly launched S Hotel Al Barsha. A very neat set up in the brand new hotel with good service and great food. We were really very impressed by our over all experience.

They say first impression is the best impression and it was true in the case of Baker & Spice. The restaurant impressed us on the first go itself with some peppy mocktails which were one of the best we tasted in recent times.  We were served with Passion Fruit Mojito and Charcoal Lemonade.

The beauty of the Charcoal lemonade was that one could see the black charcoal dissolving into the lemon juice which in itself is a fun experience. Presentation was top notch and on the taste end it was killer. The same to be said about the passion fruit mojito - fabulously fresh and tasty.

To start off with food , we had some salad which without a shred of doubt tasted as fresh as a salad could ever get. I can say without thinking twice that the quality of the greens was supreme. Thanks to the local supply - freshness is never an issue with any of the salads or green at Baker & Spice.

In salads we had Confit salad Aubergine, Hammour, Couscous beetroot, poached potato with egg and Chicken, kale with mushroom and sumac powder.

For the main course we ordered Pan seared king fish, beef stuffed aubergine, grilled rack of lamb with freekah fries and roasted chicken thigh with lentil ragout.

Pan seared king fish being the catch of the day, we would taste freshness in every single bite. Beef Stuffed Aubergine was a delightful dish that was very filling and tasted very unique. The grilled lamb was tender, juicy succulent and a delight to have. We were served with two pieces along with Freekah.  Roasted chicken leg thigh was very thai. Served on a bed of ragout, it tasted remarkable. It was my first main dish of choice because it got my attention the very first time I saw it on the counters.

The food needless to say, was very very filling, delicious, fresh and extraordinary and nothing like we ever tasted before. The service was quick and the super friendly restaurant manager Renjith ensured that we had more than just an awesome time.

I would rate this a definite 5/5 for for it has ticked all the right boxes for me.  At a time when organic is the way forward, it's very satisfying to note that fresh food concepts like Baker & Spice are being created to target that popular segment of healthy eaters.

This place is a must visit and right from the mocktails and juices to the salads to the main course everything is top quality and the price they charge very much justifies.

A must visit restaurant for foodies!
