NYE celebrations at Flavours Restaurant, Hawthorne By Wyndham Suites
Unlike the
usual NYE revelries, this year we decided to have a quiet new years eve enjoying
some good food with friends rather than clubbing it out over drinks as we
usually do. We looked for a nice restaurant around JBR area, from where we
could watch the fireworks too.
I would rather
have loved to witness the magnificent fireworks and countdown at a Burj Khalifa
waterfront restaurant but most restaurants were already over booked and the cost for booking were ridiculously high. JBR looked like a more viable option
with lesser traffic jams and cheaper options in terms of F&B offering.
We booked Flavours
restaurant at Hawthorne Suites by Wyndham JBR – a perfect place to enjoy some
great food and also watch the fireworks. Thankfully reservation was easy and
the prices were very reasonable. Flavors
restaurant offered a NYE gala dinner at only AED 350 with unlimited non-alcoholic
beverages.
We went there little earlier to avoid the traffic snarl and spent
time in their gorgeous poolside. By 8 pm
we moved in for dinner. The vibe
was great and the restaurant had a great al fresco dining area set up on the
lawns with live DJ and great views of the Eye of Dubai – the merry go round.
Service was
great and the Chef who has recently joined, had put up a fabulous menu including
a lot of Indian and international dishes.
We started
off with some tempura fried prawns and calamari which were delicious. There were live cooking stations for sea food
and it offered some of the best from the seas. All we had to do is choose the seafood
and let the chef know and it was grilled to perfection and delivered at our
tables hot and fresh.
They also
had fabulous cold cuts, middle eastern mezze, salads, rice, and stir fried
vegetable options.
The
restaurant is slick and the service is pleasant and quick. Quality of food was
great and my favourite, as always was the chicken biryani and seafood paella. My
dining partner who is a pure vegetarian too had some nice options for her. The
chef was kind enough to specially prepare a paneer curry and some Indian breads
for her.
Over all
the experience was great and we would definitely be going there again for the
next special occasion. Flavours is a
highly recommended family restaurant serving amazing food in a very casual and
laid back ambiance with very good service.
